قالت وزارة الدفاع الوطني يوم الأحد ان دولا عرضت المساعدة على تونس للسيطرة على الوضع بعد غرق سفينة تجارية تحمل ما يصل إلى ألف طن من الوقود قبالة سواحل قابس في محاولة لتجنب كارثة بيئية.
وغرقت السفينة المتجهة من غينيا الاستوائية إلى مالطا يوم الجمعة وأنقذت البحرية جميع أفراد الطاقم السبعة.
وقال مسؤولون إن السفينة كانت تحمل ما بين 750 طنا وألف طن من الوقود وأرسلت نداء استغاثة على بعد سبعة أميال من قابس استجابت له البحرية التونسية.
وفي بيان، قالت وزارة الدفاع إن البحرية التونسية ستتدخل مع الدول التي أبدت رغبتها في المساعدة للحيلولة دون وقوع تلوث بحري وتجنبا لكارثة بيئية بحرية.
وعرضت إيطاليا عرضت، ومن المتوقع أن ترسل بارجة متخصصة في التعامل مع الكوارث البحرية.
وفتحت النيابة العامة يوم السبت تحقيقا لتحديد المسؤوليات والاستماع إلى طاقم السفينة.
وقالت وزارة البيئة إن سبب الحادث هو سوء الأحوال الجوية.
وأضافت الوزارة أن السلطات شكلت خلية أزمة وتعمل على تجنب كارثة بيئية والحد من أي تأثير محتمل.
وقالت إنه سيتم وضع حواجز للحد من انتشار الوقود وتطويق السفينة قبل سحب ما تسرب منها.
ويواجه ساحل قابس بجنوب البلاد تلوثا كبيرا منذ سنوات حيث تقول منظمات بيئية إن منشآت صناعية في المنطقة تقوم بإلقاء النفايات مباشرة في البحر.
